Well what do you gotta have?
Check this passage out with me…
18Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” 19Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. 20Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21being fully
persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.
Romans 4:18-21 NIV
The original story goes that Abraham was told by God that he would be a father of many people...so many that they would look like stars in the sky or sand on the shore to him.
That is a lot of people!
That is a pretty ridiculously looking promise coming from God!
I think God hasn’t changed.
He still makes BIG promises to us because He has a fantastic plan for your life. That plan is supposed be beyond your own imaginational level.
On a side note...If you think God’s plan is simple and achievable without something miraculous, then I suspect it’s not His plan for you.
Check in with Him and get an upgrade…
Anyway, Abraham did some things as he waited for God’s promise to come to pass. But all of them related back to something you gotta have...Faith!
Whatever big promise you are waiting for you gotta have faith as well. It is non negotiable.
It doesn’t matter if it looks hopeless.
It doesn’t matter what the circumstances say.
If God said it, then faith is what you need to get you to that promise.
And didn’t God say that faith is a gift? So if you find yourself lacking in the faith department, get asking for some of that gift!
Do what you can today to strengthen your faith, not weaken it.
Do what you can to be fully persuaded that this God you serve, can do as He has promised.
Something to think about…
Much is written on life and what it is all about. It seems many of us in this world don't believe that it is already all worked out. The mystery of life is that we are all on a journey, a grand adventure that's personal to you. You are born and one day you will die, the bit in the middle is 'your' life. imagination
Human beings have a thing called an imagination.
It is this ability to see into a future and pretend what it could be like.
Sometimes people are described as having a ‘vivid’ imagination, where it describes them as having one just that little bit more extravagant than others around them.
Most kids have a vivid imagination. I know that I certainly did growing up.
I dreamed of being an astronaut.
I dreamed and played out being a soldier in World War II.
It wasn’t that hard to dream really.
John Lennon even wrote a famous song with the simple title ’imagine’. He challenged people through it to picture what the world could be like. He actually understood that imagination was the first step to things changing in peoples lives.
The history of achievement is all based on this imagination thing.
People imagined flying and set about to make it happen.
Someone else dreamed of splitting an atom and made it happen.
For us now, should anything be any different?
Should someone who believes in a God who created everything have an imagination?
Ephesians 3:20 says these words...
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us
It is saying that no matter what we can imagine or dream up...God wants to do even more!
It is not saying to not imagine.
It is saying that God is even bigger than it.
Obviously there is imagination that is not cool.
The Bible also talks about selfish or vain imagination.
I guess for me, what I take from this word is that if I use it for God’s glory, if I desire to have Him lead me in it...something truly amazing can come from mine and your lives.
Imagination should take us somewhere very special.
It should be a trigger point for where this year can take us.
